The unification of different artistic media is the creative poetics of the international Zadar Organ Festival. Accordingly, the festival program for 2022 conceived an idea for an interdisciplinary project honoring Zvonimir Brkan, one of the greatest Croatian masters of artistic photography.
The Hommage à Zvonimir Brkan project coupled photography and music. In doing this, it engaged the Croatian composer Berislav Šipuš who wrote a composition for the organ Images of time... sounds of memories, inspired by the work of the great photographer. In thirteen movements, he tried to convey the atmosphere and experiences of thirteen selected photographs by Zvonimir Brkan. The photographs are shown at the exhibition organized by Zvonimir's granddaughter, art historian and archaeologist Zrinka Brkan Klarin.
The composition Images of time... sounds of memories written by Berislav Šipuš will be premiered by Tea Kulaš, organist and the Festival's organizer, playing on a portable digital organ of the Dutch company Mixtuur Orgelsat at the fourth edition of the Zadar Organ Festival.
